  13. blessedistruth Says:

    From Rasmussen Reports

Just 30% of U.S. voters think it is better for the country when one political party runs both the White House and Congress, as is presently the case.

45% like the idea of divided government better, with the White House and Congress each being run by a different party.

(I’d feel better if even one House had a Republican majority, either House or Senate. I’d sleep better at night. Thank God for a few centrist Dem senators like Lieberman! Otherwise, we’d have no balance whatsoever.)

  14. blessedistruth Says:

Hugh Hewitt Memo to the NRCC and the NRSC

To the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee:

The NRCC and the NRSC shouldn’t miss this moment, nor should they try to raise generic money.

Ask for funds to defeat incumbents who have already voted the wrong way on Obamacare, and pledge that those funds will be turned over to primary winners, not deployed to favored insiders or GOP incumbents.

Activists opposed to Obamacare want their energy and money to go into specific efforts to stop Obamacare.

If the GOP Congressional leadership doesn’t seize the moment, you have to wonder if they will be able to use the momentum that has already been built against the Democratic majority.

The key is specificity: Against exactly which Democrats in which districts will the funds be used?

Will the funds go exclusively to defeat Democrats up for election in 2010 who voted for cloture?

  16. blessedistruth Says:

Unfortunately for Obama and the Democrats, the Senate will never be mistaken for Usain Bolt.

While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could afford losing 39 Democratic votes on Saturday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid can’t lose a single one to bring it to the floor.

What’s more, conservative Senate Dems — not to mention Joe Lieberman (I-D) — have major objections to the “opt out” public option in Reid’s bill.

“If the public option plan is in there, as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote,” Lieberman said yesterday on FOX.

(Who does Schumer think he’s kidding with this state opt-out?! There would be no opting-out.)

  17. blessedistruth Says:

    Joe — mo — mentum!

WALLACE: … will you support a Republican filibuster on final passage in the Senate?

LIEBERMAN: Well, there’s some good things in the House-passed plan. You know, I’m — I think we ought to do health care reform this year to deal with the two great problems that President Obama and others have talked about.

There are unsustainable continuing increases in the cost of health care. We’ve got to — we’ve got to stop that. And there are millions of Americans who don’t have health insurance.

But I’m afraid our colleagues in the House added a lot onto that that subtract from the genuine purposes of health care reform, and one was to create a public option plan.

The public option plan is unnecessary.

*** It has been put forward, I’m convinced, by people who really want the government to take over all of health insurance. ***

(Exactly right, senator! It is possible to have universal coverage and absolutely NO government-run health care. Other countries do it. Yes We Can!)

They’ve got a right to do that. I think that would be wrong.

But worse than that, we have a problem even greater than the health insurance problems, and that is a debt — $12 trillion today, projected to be $21 trillion in 10 years.

WALLACE: So at this point, I take it, you’re a “no” vote in the Senate.

LIEBERMAN: If the public option plan is in there, as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote, because I believe the debt can break America and send us into a recession that’s worse than the one we’re fighting our way out of today. I don’t want to do that to our — to our children and grandchildren.

  18. blessedistruth Says:

Rachel Maddow is a Lieberman ‘traitor’ hater

Lieberman stands for something steady and old-fashioned: a genuine policy centrism that transcends party lines.

Whether it’s forging an assertive foreign policy in Iraq and Afghanistan, renewing the successful and popular Patriot Act or stumping for centrist GOP candidates along with Democrats, Lieberman is a throwback to a time when lawmakers truly followed their hearts, not their party leaders.

    Nothing traitorous about that.

    (I guess I’m just an old-fashioned girl!)

  19. blessedistruth Says:

    Larry Elder is pissed!

Now that Fox News and conservative talk radio give people alternatives, critics squeal as if being sodomized.

Is Fox skeptical about the “bailout” and Cash for Clunkers or more likely to blame government rather than “greed” for the housing meltdown? Yes.

Does Fox appear to focus more on Obama’s dithering over his top Afghanistan commander’s request for the troops the general thinks necessary to succeed? Yes.

The better question is, why aren’t the others doing the same thing?

The double standards and pro-liberal negligence are mind-boggling.

If media malpractice were a crime, many “reporters” would be on death row.

When the Obama administration claimed 640,000 jobs were “saved or created” with $159 billion of the “stimulus,” many “news” outlets blithely “reported” this.

Do you know that comes to $250,000 per job?!!!

And the administration claimed half the jobs were teachers.

How many teachers make $250,000 per year? Very little skepticism.

Why didn’t “journalists” immediately challenge this as a matter of who, what, where, when and why?

If George W. Bush had done this (God forbid he’d have supported an $800 billion stimulus package), the mainstream media would have — and should have — said, “Why, that comes to $250K per job!!!!!”

But as to Fox News, it’s BMW — bitch, moan and whine. Oh, the humanity!

(So Obama is Chief Bitch, Moan and Whiner?!)

    lead thou me on!
Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see

I was not ever thus, nor prayed that thou
    shouldst lead me on;
I loved to choose and see my path; but now
    lead thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
pride ruled my will: remember not past years!

So long thy power hath blessed me, sure it still
    will lead me on.

So Larry is alleging Orly asked him to perjure himself.
    Orly vehemently denies.

    • Jack // November 10, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Of course, the $64,000 question remains — maybe never known unless and until a retired Judge Carter elects to publish his memoirs: Was his Order, replete with errors and gratuitous faults (even his hiring the Obama-law firm connected clerk) actually intentional, to enable Orly to get some case, any case, to discovery and merits without being held up in appeal — or was it merely a horribly bad and ignorant decision?
Perhaps Judge Carter’s fellow marines may want to reserve judgment on him to a later date.

Well, you know whose side I’m on, but that doesn’t mean I always agree with Larry and he knows that.

Apparently this judge used this letter from Larry against Orly in court so …

I’m just trying to find out what exactly was in that letter.

    Obviously, I’ve been preoccupied.

And I certainly think it significant that Orly was trying to include Donald Young’s murder in one of her court cases.

I would think Larry would want that info out there too.

Is it just that Larry didn’t want to be associated with birthers or didn’t want to be associated with Orly?

    2. Orly Taitz has perjured herself in her declaration in paragraph 11, sub-paragraph 2, were she states “The affidavit further said that Mr. Young was found dead, shot in the back of his head at the onset of the Democratic primaries for 2008 presidential election,” considering the fact that nowhere in my affidavit to the Chicago Police Department does it say anything about Donald Young being found “shot in the back of the head…”

This is exactly what Orly Taitz was asking me to do, go into Judge Carter’s Court and make statements that are not part of my affidavit to the Chicago Police nor in my book.

Orly Taitz continues to try to make the murder of Donald Young a part of a case challenging the eligibility of Barack Obama, that has nothing to do with Orly Taitz convoluted claims. She continues to make statements that are not true about me and what I have stated in sworn affidavits.

Orly Taitz might want to read the affidavit and/or my Book before she swears out another declaration under penalty of perjury.

(nowhere in my affidavit to the Chicago Police Department does it say anything about Donald Young being found “shot in the back of the head…”)

Is that what this is all about?! Larry’s affidavit is a matter of public record and Larry’s beef is that Orly got some of her facts wrong.

Well, like it or not, Larry’s affidavit is out there now.

  50. blessedistruth Says:

    From Orly Taitz

    11. I have asked Larry Sinclair to authenticate an affidavit he submitted to the Chicago police regarding the homicide of Mr. Donald Young. In fact, the statements to which Mr. Sinclair would testify are already a matter of public record.

1.In the affidavit submitted to the Chicago Police and in his book, recently published, Mr. Sinclair stated that Mr. Donald Young contacted him repeatedly and told Mr. Sinclair that he had a lengthy homosexual relationship with Mr. Obama.

2.The affidavit further said that Mr. Young was found dead, shot in the back of his head at the onset of the Democratic primaries for 2008 presidential election.

3.Any allegation that I asked Mr. Sinclair to perjure himself is not only completely defamatory, but lacks any sense or reason, as Mr. Sinclair’s affidavit regarding Mr. Young’s homicide can be found filed with the Chicago police department and in his book, that can be purchased on the Internet.
