Heard some of this last night, not the whole thing. I was intrigued by her concept of a “core matrix.” I don’t pretend to understand, but this is related to physicists’ theories of multiverses or eleven dimensions.

Rasmussen Obama Approval 47 — 52
Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty-two percent (52%) now disapprove.
It is important to remember that the Rasmussen Reports job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters. Some other firms base their approval ratings on samples of all adults. President Obama’s numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters. That’s because some of the President’s most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote.

Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, and Ben Nelson have all said they’re voting for cloture now. That makes 60, at least barring any surprises. The bill can pass go.
But that’s all it can do, at least for now. Today’s cloture vote is so Democrats can begin debate and modification of the bill.
During that debate, they will need to call cloture votes in order to amend the bill.
After that process is finished, there will be another cloture vote to begin voting on the bill.
At this point in the history of the United States Senate, Harry Reid pretty much needs to call a cloture vote before he can sneeze.
It’s all cloture votes, all the time.
And the fact that Reid won today’s vote doesn’t mean he’ll win tomorrow’s.

I attended this lecture last night, which was recorded, so I hope we’ll be able to view his lecture in its entirety.
I’ve been following Dr. Greer very closely for a very long time so most of what he touched upon wasn’t news to me.
But I’m glad I was finally able to see him close up and personal.
Dr. Greer concluded his presentation with a brand new image he had just acquired while in the desert at Joshua Tree.
From my vantage point it was hard to see, but it appeared to be a visitor to our planet from who knows where.
But I could make out what appeared to be the entire body, bulbous head, boots and all.
Dr. Greer commented on the size of the brain and the IQ this fella must have!
Anyway, he said he planned to send image to the White House.
I also found out Dr. Greer is neighbors with my husband’s sister.
Near Monticello and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where she and her husband both work.

SCHIEFFER: Let me just ask Senator Kyl about the most controversial part of this. And that is the so-called public option, which would be a government insurance program like Medicare for younger people. Why are you so opposed to that, Senator?
KYL: Well, there are several reasons.
Incidentally, I was going to quote from the Congressional Budget Office letter that points out that the expenditures here are going to increase, not decrease, so it’s not as if we’re actually cutting the costs of these government programs like Medicare.
But in any event, the government-run program is objectionable for two primary reasons.
First of all, a lot of people will acknowledge, even members of Congress, that it is the first in a two-step process to get to a single-payer system.
And there are people on the left in this country who support that.
Most people do not, and this is seen as a way to get there.
And how do you get there?
As Senator Schumer just mentioned, you get a lot of people that have policies today with their employer.
And according to the Lewin and Associates study, 88 million of those people will drop the coverage with the employer or be dropped because the employer can’t — it will be cheaper for him to dump them into the government-run program, put it that way.
Eighty-eight million people.
And that then brings up the second point.
if you like your insurance you get to keep it. No, not true.
You have your insurance with your employer.
He says it’s cheaper for me to send you to the government plan than it is for me to continue to provide it, you don’t get to keep your policy anymore.
Now you’re in the government-run system.
So that’s the other objectionable feature.
In addition to which there are a lot of costs associated with it and dictates from the federal government as to what is covered and what is not.
(Right on, Senator Kyl! The last thing we need is more govt-run anything!)

Kerry Cassidy may be a bit combative with Dr. Greer, but I think she speaks for many who may not have had a positive experience with our extraterrestrial visitors.
Dr. Greer repeated again last night that we’ve nothing to fear from our visitors who are truly other worldly. He even said that he’s in contact with homosapiens like you and me who have been involved with pseudo alien abduction activities. I would have to agree with Kerry that even Dr. Greer may not be privy to the wide spectrum of possible experiences.
If I had to be critical of Dr. Greer, which is hard for me to be considering I am totally in concert with his efforts, then I would be critical of his being flippant about these things and being dismissive.
And I feel the same way about how he glosses over 9/11 and the Bush – Cheney years. Like others, he maintains Cheney was a member of Majestic. He refers to 9/11 as being an effective diversion, playing into the Truthers’ worst fears.
This is awful behavior and I wish he would stop it. If he honestly believes that Bush and/or Cheney are guilty of the murder of 3,000 of their fellow citizens, then he should just come out and say it.
But he doesn’t, he just leaves it hanging out there, catering to the Truthers in his audience.
Doesn’t he know what he’s saying?!
Dr. Greer needs to do a better job discerning the truth of the matter, as opposed to interjecting his own flawed and all too human interpretation.

Some say that Switzerland’s health care system can provide inspiration, or serve as a model, for the restructuring of the U.S. health care system.

Harvard University’s Regina Herzlinger has done extensive research on Switzerland’s health care system.
Switzerland guarantees quality health care coverage to all its residents, and does so without a government-run plan.
It does not “resemble the model of bureaucratic, socialized medicine often cited by opponents of universal coverage in the United States.”
Instead, the Swiss rely on a public-private model that might be an appropriate template for policymakers in Washington to draw on.
Many of the reform proposals floating around Washington mirror specific elements of the Swiss system.
“The mix that Switzerland represents between private enterprise and general state regulations that make health care accessible to everyone is really an interesting example for the US,” states Felix Gutzwiller, a senator and head of Zurich University’s department of public health.
Both the House and Senate health reform proposals, for example, include an individual mandate (with hardship waivers), government assistance for those that cannot afford insurance premiums, limits on age rating and prohibit coverage denials due to pre-existing conditions.

For the first time in the Obama Administration, the Approval Index has been in negative double digits for nine straight days. Among men, the President’s Approval Index rating is -20. Among women, it is -7.
Support for the health care plan proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low of 38%. Sixty percent (60%) of voters believe passage of the bill will lead to higher health care costs.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove.

Was Ike really flown to Wright Patterson Air Force Base on that fateful night to view the recovered saucer and alien bodies from the crash at Roswell, as the persistent rumors suggest?
Enter Wilhelm Reich.
In the course of his UFO adventures in 1955, Reich traveled through Roswell, New Mexico.
He was on his way to Tucson, Arizona with his “Orgone equipment,” to study its capacity to alleviate desert conditions.
Reich went on to record these experiences in his book, Contact With Space, now an extremely hard-to-find underground classic.
Although his immediate destination was Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, there seems little doubt that Reich had aliens firmly impressed upon his mind as he passed through the town of Roswell.
Reich wrote:
“Although it was very hot as we neared Roswell, New Mexico, no OR flow was visible on the road, which should have been shimmering with ‘heat-waves’. Instead, DOR was well marked to the west against purplish, black, barren mountains, in the sky as a blinding grayness, and over the horizon as a grayish layer. The caking of formerly good soil was progressively characteristic and eventually caked soil prevailed over the vegetation, which now consisted only of scattered low brushes, while grass disappeared.”
The Roswell episode in Contact With Space concludes:
“After the desert valley it was a relief to spend a night in Ruidoso, New Mexico, in the Sierra Blanca Mountains (near 7000 feet). Here a strong, reactive secondary vegetation had sprung up, again more marked on the western slope…”
Skeptics of the Roswell story often claim that interest in the event dropped off immediately after its initial media flash, only to be revived in the late 1980s by unreliable UFO researchers seeking to profit from a myth of their own creation.
Reich’s visit to Roswell, with its clear references to aliens, contradicts that assumption.
So does remarkably strong archival documentation from several disparate sources that show an interlocking connection between Reich and Dwight Eisenhower.

Yet he still thinks that, somehow, health legislation will get done, probably not by Christmas but early next year. “At the end of the day,” he says, “I feel strongly health-care reform will pass the Senate and the Congress.”

Are we Americans suffering from a “vision” deficit disorder?
There’s a powerful message here for nations and civilizations. Nations that look up go up. Nations that look down go down. Research on the fans of winning and losing sports teams show that when your team and mine wins, we, like lizards and crayfish, go through a biologically based lift. But if our team loses, our biology knocks us down a peg. The implication? When we sense we are part of a group with an exuberant future we’re neurochemically primed to climb. But if all we see is gloom and doom, our neurochemistry can help give us what we wish for. It can shift us into the hormonal posture of a loser.
If America can find its next big goal and aim for it, if America can see its next way of climbing to the heights, if America can shift its perception from decline to the peaks that lay ahead of us, to the next big challenge, if we can lift ourselves with all our might, we can enjoy the bio-boost that surges through winning crayfish and lizards. We can see obstacles as challenges and difficulties as opportunities. And we can make massive contributions to humanity. But if we insist that we’ve reached the end of our run and that it’s all downhill from here, down is where we will go. Our internal chemistry will make it so.

Rasmussen Obama Approval 45 — 54
Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That matches the lowest level of total approval yet measured for this president. Eighty-one percent (81%) of Democrats approve as do 33% of unaffiliated voters. Eighty-three percent (83%) of Republicans disapprove.
Among all voters, 54% now disapprove.
(Instead of insisting things are so bad because of what he “inherited,” perhaps Obama could use some of that “vision” thing.)

I did notice that Howard Bloom’s new book is getting good reviews from both people of faith and people of reason.
I guess that is how this latter group prefers to think of themselves.
I am concerned that this deep recession could turn into a full-fledged depression.
And I think Bloom may be on to something here.
I heard yet another Obot this morning on Fox speak of how Obama “inherited” this mess.
Besides the fact that it’s easy to refute that argument.
That tactic is not going to fly and it’s not going to help.
I honestly don’t know what Obama’s core values are.
I am hoping and praying that he figures that out for himself.
And that his core values coincide with Divine Will.
Only then will Obama’s vision take flight.
And I don’t believe that “Europeanization” is what God would have for this country.

I should probably qualify that.
For example, I favor how the Swiss do HC.
No govt-run anything, not even Medicare or Medicaid.
Everyone is covered and no rationing.
And they spend .60 for every 1.00 we spend.
Private insurers don’t profit from basic coverage, but they do profit from supplemental plans which many if not most Swiss purchase.

The public option is a significant issue, not a digression. Both left and right see it as a step toward expanding government-sponsored health insurance beyond the 29% of Americans who already get insurance from the government.
The bill Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid brought to the floor gives state legislatures the right to opt out of any public plan. But that notion may not survive attacks from fans of a public plan. They know several Southern states would opt out, if only to assert states’ rights, including those states where there is very little competition among private insurers. Insiders treat the Reid opt-out provision as a placeholder until end-game negotiations commence.
A provision that would trigger a public plan in certain circumstances has the appealing political benefit of allowing one group to say those circumstances will never occur and the other to say they probably will; both can declare victory. That’s why the 2003 Medicare prescription-drug law required a “fallback” public plan in places where seniors weren’t offered two private plans. In the end, every senior had a choice so the trigger was never pulled.
Among the many reasons to watch the trigger talks — whether one thinks a public plan is wise or dangerous — is that the concept appeals both to Sen. Olympia Snowe, the Maine Republican whose vote Mr. Reid may need if Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Connecticut independent, defects, and to Rahm Emanuel, the president’s chief of staff and legislative strategist.
Ms. Snowe proposes to create a nonprofit government corporation in states where “affordable” health insurance, defined as a percentage of income, is scarce. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal in July, Mr. Emanuel spoke favorably of triggering a public plan in places where the insurance marketplace lacks sufficient competition.
The competition trigger could return to center stage in coming weeks. Advocating “competition” and “choice” is a more appealing slogan than calling for “government health insurance.” And there are plenty of places where one or two insurance companies dominate the market, much to the consternation of employers and consumers.

I realize there will be plenty of reasons for both Dems and Repubs to either support or oppose final passage.
But if you voted for trigger for W’s prescription coverage for elderly, then it would be hypocritical to vote nay now because you oppose trigger.

“They see this is a beachhead for having a public program as a long-term competitor in the United States,” said Bob Blendon, a health policy and political analyst at Harvard. “But advocates are going to be a bit disappointed … For an issue that is so prominent, it will not have much impact.”
The public option passed by the House of Representatives on November 7 would cover 6 million people, the Congressional Budget Office estimates, slightly higher than the Senate’s version.
The CBO said Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid’s inclusion of a provision allowing states to decline to participate in the public option means only about two-thirds of Americans would have access to the program.
Reid included the “opt-out” to appeal to moderate Democrats who oppose the option and he is exploring other compromises to win over Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman when the Senate takes up the bill next week.
“Harry Reid is trying to find that sweet spot, that position that brings 60 votes together,” Senator Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat and a public option supporter, told reporters last week.
“We understand this is the art of the possible,” he said. “I wish it were a bigger public option, but I think there will be an effect as long as there is competition.”
Obama has signaled he is willing to jettison the option as long as the plan contains some form of insurance competition, and Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in August it was “not the essential element” of any overhaul.
Lieberman has said he will oppose any public option, but the others have not ruled out compromises such as Republican Olympia Snowe’s “trigger.” That plan would activate the option only in states where affordable insurance was not available.
Another compromise being developed by Democrat Tom Carper would create government plans run by non-profit boards in states where affordable insurance is not available.
“We’re trying to find something that addresses concerns about government-run and government-funded plans but still addresses the need for more competition in states that don’t have it,” Carper said.
If Reid is forced to jettison the public option he could face fallout from liberal senators like Bernie Sanders and Roland Burris, who have said they will reconsider their support for any plan without a government-run insurance option.
But some question whether liberals would bring down a healthcare overhaul that would expand coverage to more than 30 million uninsured people because it did not include a public option that would serve only 3 million to 4 million.
“I would be hard-pressed to walk away from a bill that covers 30 million new people,” said Howard of the Alliance for Health Reform. “I really don’t know when we’ll get another chance at a bite that big at the problem of the uninsured.”

I believe that in the end Lieberman and other centrists would vote for a trigger, so long as it wasn’t a hair trigger.
And I believe private insurers would support that as well.
A note to those on the right who still believe ObamaCare will be defeated.
I think you’re overreaching, and maybe even passing up an opportunity to improve bill.
Like real tort reform.
Your reasoning on this?
I’m guessing Repub leadership believes that a majority of Americans will be so angry if anything actually passes (even if no public option) that that will lead to Repub victories in 2010 and 2012.
There are so many variables, that I wouldn’t be too sure about that.
