Return to Eden

Irfan is a Bulgarian world music band that was founded in 2001. The band’s name is taken from the Arabic/Persian word Irfan.

Though similar in style to established bands such as Dead Can Dance, Love Is Colder Than Death, Sarband, and Vas, Irfan is known for its extensive use of a choir of male vocals in addition to the ethereal and mystic female vocals of Denitza Seraphimova in combination with an assortment of traditional medieval percussive, string and wind instruments including the darbouka, daf, bendir, oud, saz, santoor, ghaida, duduk and viola da gamba.

Irfan’s music and reliance on traditional instruments is based on a blend of the musical influences common to Bulgaria, and thus represents a blend of medieval European, Balkan and Middle-Eastern styles.

Hoping Coyotes can win one more so Phoenix gets one more home game.

A lot of money for all concerned.

I’ve never seen my husband so animated about a playoff game before, and I’ve been through a lot with him.

Suffice it to say that some in Detroit organization have been less than charitable with Phoenix during the hard times we’ve all endured when it looked like team might be leaving the valley.

So I guess I’ll have to excuse his potty mouth. Actually it’s very entertaining!

But our doggie comes running to me because he’s scaring her!

We’ll deal with it whatever the outcome.

Things are looking up already for valley hockey.

And it looks as though the company my husband works for is going to get another piece of the business out of the deal.

Good things come to those who wait?!

Hayworth: ‘Birther bill’ doesn’t go far enough

“It’s real simple: We now require voters to offer proof that voters are who they say they are,” Hayworth said Friday at a news conference in Phoenix.

“If we’re asking that of voters, shouldn’t we ask candidates for every office on the ballot to be able to offer proof that they are who they say they are?”

The state House on Wednesday voted 31-29 to pass the legislation that would require all presidential hopefuls seeking access to Arizona’s ballot to provide to the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office proof that the candidate is a natural-born citizen, proof of the candidate’s age and proof that the candidate meets the Constitution’s residency requirement of 14 years.

The term “birthers” refers to the fringe political-conspiracy theorists who allege, despite evidence to the contrary, that Obama was born in Africa and not Hawaii.

If Obama is not a natural-born citizen, he is ineligible to be president under the Constitution.

Earlier this year, Hayworth drew criticism and ridicule for making sympathetic comments about the “birther” movement, both on his KFYI-AM (550) radio show and in early campaign appearances on MSNBC and CNN.

McCain, the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, sided with critics of the bill who question whether Arizona could legally impose a birth-certificate requirement on presidential contenders.

“I think that Secretary of State Ken Bennett, whose responsibilities these are, is correct and that the parameters for candidates for elected federal office are set by federal law and not by state law,” McCain said Friday at a news conference in downtown Phoenix.

All I know is the State of Arizona required a copy of my long-form BC for teacher certification purposes.

So POTUS should be held to a lower standard?!

    • Aussie Says:

The place of birth is actually a distraction. His alleged father, that is Obama Sr. was a citizen of Kenya and was a British citizen. That British citizneship was conferred onto the son.

According to your constitution to be a Natural Born Citizen the person’s parents must be citizens of the USA prior to his or her birth.

In this case there is only one parent who is a USA citizen, therefore the criteria for Natural Born Citizen has not been met.

Look for Democrats to hit Republicans for obstructing Wall Street reform if the GOP votes against going ahead with the bill. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) predicted all 41 Republicans would oppose Democratic efforts to bring up the Senate Banking Committee bill until changes are made. And McConnell on Sunday pushed a new line of attack – that Democrats are rushing on enact a financial overhaul bill with gaping holes, similar to what they did on health reform. “We don’t have a bipartisan compromise yet,” McConnell said on Fox News Sunday. “But I think there is a good chance we’re going to get it. What I’d like to see is an opportunity to prevent the Democrats from doing from the financial services industry what they just did to the health care of this country.” The impasse reflects the pressure on the top negotiators – on Dodd not to dilute the bill in any significant way or face grumbling from his left flank, and on Shelby to extract concessions meaningful enough for Republicans to say their initial opposition paid off.

In our current state and with a President pushing this nation towards a socialist wasteland, I can comfortably vote for obstruction.

To vote for a Republican — any Republican — for Congress in the general election is a vote against Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid as leaders (depending on the House).

At this point, it is unconscionable to vote for a third party or to not vote at all in the current political environment.

With the fast track towards socialism we are moving on today, I can comfortably support obstruction all day long.

(But then Dems will cry “obstruction” and that doesn’t play well with moderates. For example, I believe in today’s test cloture vote, all 41 Senate Repubs should stick together. Force a compromise.)

(Had Snowe, Collins and Specter done that on porkulus, we would have gotten a stimulus that actually stimulated something.)

  35. blessedistruth Says:

Harry Reid’s spokesman, Jim Manley, sounded positively giddy about the prospect of Republicans sticking together in opposition:

“Today, Republicans face a major choice: Will they stand up for the American people, and join us to hold Wall Street accountable for the reckless gambling that cost 8 million Americans their jobs and millions more their economic livelihood? Or will they follow the marching orders they’ve been getting at their secret, closed-door meetings with Wall Street executives, and continue to protect Wall Street?

“We remain eager to work with Republicans who are sincere about reforming Wall Street, and we are hopeful for bipartisan agreement on this important effort. But there are no two ways about it: a vote against even opening debate on holding Wall Street accountable is a vote to protect Wall Street.”

It is likely that Manley will get his wish. Richard Shelby said today that a deal was unlikely by the 5:00 deadline when the cloture vote on the motion to proceed will happen.

Trinity people aren’t speaking up either because they don’t want to be the one to stop the first black president or they are scared to talk.

HillBuzzBlogspotCom wrote: June 30th, 04:15 PM

Adrienne – I told you exactly what I have been told by people in the gay community here who have said there are definite open secrets about BHO.

I’ve never remarked on the Sinclair stuff for one solid reason: it does not make sense with what the gay community in Chicago tells me.

Not saying it couldn’t be true, but that’s not BHOs’ M.O. here.

Being on the down-low means you only fool around with other married guys on the down-low, and there are enough successful, wealthy down-low members of Trinity, who are married, and thus have as much to lose if they rat out the other guy who is on the downlow.

Some are athletes, some are other high profile men in the community, and some are not even members of the church, but elected officials themselves, in other states (that start with “M”, like in Michelle) or other cities (that start with “B”, like in beard).

The people I have spoken to who know Trinity well, and know open secrets well, say people aren’t speaking up either because they don’t want to be the one to stop the first black president or they are scared to talk….

HOWEVER, they said they are positive that, after he would become President, that the open secret will no longer be a secret, and that the carefully-arranged down-low secret pacts will collapse, because the media will have an incentive to create the most sensational sex scandal to ever hit the White House: the first bisexual president.

In short — and let’s see if this clears things up — there are people who know open-secrets who are staying quiet because outing a presidential candidate is not something they want to do, but outing a president, and exposing him as a bisexual, would be something they’d see as important, because it’s a step towards having an openly gay president.

Think James McGreevey….yes, his administration collapsed when he came out, and he came out only because his affair was being telegraphed, but McGreevey still served, briefly, as an openly gay US governor.

That’s a step towards having other openly gay governors in the future — ones not tainted with scandal, preferably.

Outing Obama as a candidate will keep him from being elected….outing him if he becomes President means the US will have its first outed bisexual/gay president.

There is no putting that genie back in its bottle.

I don’t agree with any of this Adrienne….I am just telling you what I hear on a regular basis here in Chicago.

The Arizona Republican called the situation in his state “the worst I’ve ever seen,” saying ineffective border enforcement has resulted in drugs pouring into the southwestern United States from Mexico. McCain told CBS’s “The Early Show” that over a million pounds of marijuana were intercepted on the border at Tucson just in the last year. He said he’s talked to law enforcement officials and believes the new law can be implemented “without racial profiling.” Under the law set to take effect in late July or August, it would be a crime to be in the United States illegally.

Conservatives should exercise philosophical consistency here.

    This is a bad decision.

Conservative activist Grover Norquist has dubbed the conservative movement the “leave us alone coalition,” and as Justice Brandeis might have said, this law infringes Arizonans’ “right to be left alone”—free from government intrusion.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) should have vetoed it.

Arizonans’ “right to be left alone”

(Right you are. Arizonans have a right to to be left alone from invaders from the south. Illegal immigrants only have the rights bestowed upon them by their Creator. Legally, they have no rights bestowed upon them by the State of Arizona or by these United States.)
